West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today voted in the assembly election in Nandigram constituency, from where she is contesting. The day saw a face-off between BJP and Trinamool Congress workers at a polling booth. Ms Banerjee was caught between the two warring groups for more than an hour. She dialled Governor Jagdeep Dhankar from Nandigram and told him that the situation was a failure of the Election Commission, which was in charge of law and order. The Election Commission has sought a report on the matter from the local administration. Nandigram - the centrepiece of the Bengal elections, where the Chief Minister is facing her protege-turned arch rival Suvendu Adhikari – voted today in the second phase.
