Former Mumbai top cop Julio Ribeiro, who eventually became the chief of Gujarat and Punjab police and was later named India's ambassador to Romania, has said he will not head any probe into the allegations by Mumbai Police officer Param Bir Singh against Home Minister Anil Deshmukh of corruption. In an interview to NDTV, he said he would have quit the second if he was made aware of a corruption allegation as big as this. He also hit out at NCP chief Sharad Pawar on the issue of transfers. It was Mr Pawar who at one stage had complained about transfer raj, and how and on what basis are transfers now taking place, Mr Ribeiro said.
