Water Wars: Competitive Politics Drowning Out Reason?

Water wars between Punjab and Haryana have been reignited. Punjab has decided to defy a Supreme Court order over sharing of water from the Sutlej river saying the state 'won't abide by any order against its interests'. The top court had directed maintenance of status quo on the land meant for the Sutlej-Yamuna Link after Haryana alleged that attempts were being made to alter its use by levelling it. Delhi has now waded into the debate - Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is now facing flak for his comments on the issue while campaigning in Punjab. Two days ago, he said Punjab doesn't have any water to spare, but changed track today saying it's 'not appropriate to play politics over water'. Is competitive politics drowning out reason?

This number is the lowest in a decade. Is depleting fighter strength a bigger concern for the Air Force?
