Sanmeet Singh Kochhar, Vice President, India & MENA, HMD Global, who are makers of Nokia phones, highlighted the importance of education and skill development for children. Mr Kochhar expressed concern about the prolonged disruption and closure of schools due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the adverse effect this is likely to have on children from underprivileged backgrounds. He announced that his company will be donating over 1,740 new Nokia smartphones to Kailash Satyarthi Children's Foundation and this is expected to benefit over 6,000 children across seven states.
