Farmers in northwest Indian states started burning leftover paddy stubble to quickly clear their fields before planting wheat crops. Punjab farmers have begun farm waste burning in Amritsar. Due to this, Delhi could see another polluted winter. "Government claims that there is machinery to remove this, but we do not have it. We have little land and do not have resources to cut it out by ourselves. Burning it is the only measure that is possible," said a local farmer. Every year, smoke from such farm fires veer over to Delhi and contributing to air pollution during winters.
