With the use of better technology and protection mechanisms, India has been successful in bringing back the tiger from the brink of extinction and now has 53 reserves for the big cats, a senior official involved in tiger conservation said. In an exclusive interview with NDTV, SP Yadav, Head - Project Tiger, also said that new technology is now being used to count tigers. "There is a sea change from how things were 10 to 12 years back. We are able to now establish unique identities for each tiger," he said.
