More than 70 children lost their lives in a hospital in Uttar Pradesh's Gorakhpur last week due to an alleged shortage of oxygen. The UP health minister maintains that such deaths in the month of August are a yearly feature for Gorakhpur, the UP government has denied any dearth of oxygen. In May this year, a CAG report had warned of glaring technical shortages with many hospitals in the country including the hospital in question.
