Beef And Liquor Bans: State Overreach, Selective Outrage?
As Nitish Kumar implements prohibition in Bihar and states like Tamil Nadu maybe next to do the same, we debate whether this ban is appropriate or intrusive and whether it curtails people's freedom of choice. As far as bans go, why has there been a selective outrage over banning alcohol unlike the beef ban which registered much protest. Also, considering that states justify the ban in the name of women's rights we debate: Prohibition is the answer to patriarchy & violence at home?
