Weeks ago, Army Chief warned of troop movement being misrepresented
After a newspaper reported that the army moved two units towards Delhi in January, there has been much speculation about whether the government had been given adequate information, and if this was a show of strength aimed at unnerving the government. But in the middle of March, Army Chief General VK Singh had told The Week in an interview that he was aware of attempts to malign and misrepresent what he describes as routine army exercises.
