What Top Economists Told NDTV On Their Expectations From Union Budget 2025
With a few weeks left for the Union Budget 2025-26, the former and current Chiefs of the finance commission spoke to NDTV about their expectations from the Centre.
Arvind Panagariya, the Chairperson of the Finance Commission, said the first and foremost thing that should be done is to implement the four labour codes.
"A lot has been done in the past, including under the current Prime Minister (Narendra) Modi. The labour codes were enacted in the parliament in 2019 and 2020, but their implementation is still to be done. Once that is out of the way, there is a whole host of reforms which have to do with the GST, personal income taxation, privatisation, and higher education reform," he said.
