A parliamentary panel on languages has recommended using Hindi and regional languages for teaching in centre-run higher learning institutes. "Before English came to India, what was the link language in the country? All of India was interacting from Kannyakumari to Kashmir...people have their own ways to communicate. In Kerala, I wanted to have hot tea, we didn't understand each other's languages but we were able to communicate," said historian and professor Kapil Kumar.
