The recently-concluded assembly elections are much more than a state-level poll. They actually provide - as analysts would say - a glimpse into how the two political parties are gearing up for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
The BJP and the Congress are locked in a two-way fight in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan. So winning the elections in these states would provide a fillip and would certainly boost the morale of the party workers in these states. Both Rahul Gandhi and Narendra Modi have extensively campaigned in these states and we can definitely analyse the impact the two leaders have had on the outcome of the polls. In Delhi political analysts are closely watching what impact the Aam Aadmi Party would have on the polls. If the Aam Aadmi Party does well will it mean that voters are looking beyond the two national parties?
