First Lady Melania Trump announced that she is reopening the White House to public tours starting Tuesday, February 25, 2025. The White House has been closed to tours during the transition process between administrations. Mrs. Trump says she and the president are “excited to reopen the White House to those interested in the extraordinary story of this iconic and beautiful landmark.” Visitors will be able to walk through historic rooms such as the East Room, which is the largest room in the White House and is home to the portrait of George Washington that Dolley Madison helped save when the British burned the White House in 1814. From there visitors will see the Green Room, which was used as a dining room by Thomas Jefferson. The Blue Room - where the official White House Christmas tree goes each year, the Red Room and the State Dinning room. Visitors can make requests for a self-guided public tour through their congress member, and tours can be booked up to three months in advance.
