In a balancing act on the Israel-Hamas war, India abstained from the UN's ceasefire resolution and did not vote in the UN's emergency session that called for an immediate humanitarian truce in the war. Explaining its decision to abstain, India said that the resolution did not mention the October 7 Hamas attacks and that the UN needs to send a clear message against terror. The voting at UNGA comes at a time when Israel has announced expanding ground operations in Gaza.
