Why VP Jagdeep Dhankhar Raise Concerns Over CJI's Role In Executive Appointments?

CBI Director | Why VP Jagdeep Dhankhar Raise Concerns Over CJI's Role In Executive Appointments? Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Friday raised concerns over the Chief Justice of India's role in executive appointments, particularly in selecting the CBI Director. While acknowledging that the CJI's involvement is legally mandated, Dhankhar questioned its democratic validity and called for a reassessment of the process. The CBI Director is appointed by a panel comprising the Prime Minister, the Leader of the Opposition, and the CJI or a judge nominated by the CJI. The CBI handles numerous politically sensitive corruption cases, making a fair and transparent selection process essential. However, Mr. Dhankhar believes the existing framework requires re-evaluation.
