Will Congress Survive Rita Joshi's Exit Before UP Polls?
In a major embarrassment for the Congress as it readies for elections in Uttar Pradesh, the state's former Congress chief Rita Bahuguna Joshi has joined the BJP after 24 years in the Congress party. Ms Joshi's exit comes just days after Rahul Gandhi's vigorous month-long campaign in the state. In a fierce parting shot, she attacked the Congress Vice President's comments on the surgical strike and criticized his leadership but many say her move is political opportunism at having been sidelined in the campaign planning process.
