Congress leader Digvijaya Singh will contest the internal election for the party's President and will file his nomination tomorrow. In an interview with NDTV, Mr Singh denied he was a candidate "authorised" by the Gandhis to contest the election to the party chief's post. "They [Gandhis] have said everyone is free to contest. I am not their 'authorised' candidate. I'd like to request everyone to vote for me if they think I deserve the post," Mr Singh told NDTV. "When I saw that [Rajasthan Chief Minister] Ashok Gehlot may not contest the election, I thought maybe I should contest. I will definitely file the papers," Mr Singh said. He, however, declined to say whether he would withdraw his candidature. "I will see," he added.
