Chennai's Marina beach was flooded with protesters demanding a 'permanent solution' for Jallikattu on Sunday. The traditional bull-taming sport which is a part of Pongal celebrations, failed to take off in Madurai on Sunday, a day after the state government passed an ordinance or executive order for its resumption. Chief Minister O Pannerselvam, who went to Madurai's Alanganallur to open the one Jallikattu show the state officially holds, had to return embarrassed after the farmers started a sit-down protest, refusing to bring out the hundreds of bulls that take part in the festival.
