Will NRI support be crucial in 2014 polls?
As the 2014 elections draw closer and political parties devise strategies to woo voters, there seems to be an increased focus on the Indian diaspora this year with the Congress reaching out to the youth at the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas and the BJP promising voting rights and better investment opportunities at an NRI Sammelan. Is this the AAP effect after the Arvind Kejriwal-led party drew supporters across the world? Does the increased connectivity through social media mean a higher voter turnout? And, should people not living in India really get a chance to choose its leaders?
