Speaking to NDTV, NITI Aayog vice chairman Dr Rajiv Kumar stressed the big focus of Day 1 of the Finance Minister's series of press conferences over the 20 lakh crore package announced by the PM is that the government won't let small businesses go under. He said saving the informal sector and putting extra money in the pocket of the tax payer will be the focus. When asked what the salaried middle class will get, he pointed to employee provident fund rate cuts but said at the moment the major focus has to be on the informal sector. Asked how India will get back to work with the exodus of migrant labourers from the cities, he said estimates are that only 5-6 million have left of a total of 75 million. It will not impact resumption of economic activity, he said.
