The Congress surprised itself in Haryana today as it seemed to have pulled off an unexpected double-figure tally in the BJP-ruled state. The counting of votes threw up the possibility of a fractured verdict, leaving the party in with a chance of coming to power with support from Dushyant Chautala's Jannayak Janata Party (JJP). The Congress's man of the moment in Haryana is Bhupinder Singh Hooda, the party's old warhorse and two-time chief minister. The Congress was leading in 32 of Haryana's 90 seats, giving a close fight to the BJP, which led in 40 seats. "We would have won a full majority if we had more time. The trends are in our favour," Mr Hooda told NDTV.
