Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala will invite the BJP to form the next state government, a lawmaker of the party has told NDTV. A formal announcement is expected tonight and the party's prospective Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa will take oath tomorrow, he said. With 105 lawmakers, including an Independent, in the 122-seat assembly, the BJP is 7 seats short of majority. Earlier this evening, the Governor met a delegation of Congress and JD(S) leaders, who also staked claim to form government, claiming they have majority. Sources in the Congress have said the party will approach the Supreme Court if the Governor decided in favour of the BJP.
