Yogi Adityanath vs Akhilesh Yadav In UP Local Polls This Month

With elections to over 700 urban local bodies in Uttar Pradesh just a few days away, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has hit the campaign trail, pitching the BJP government's action against criminals as a big achievement. The chief minister's poll pitch is significant given the recent incidents in Prayagraj where gangster Atiq Ahmed's son and a few others were shot dead by the UP police in encounters, and Atiq and his brother killed by armed men while in the custody of the UP police.  The Samajwadi Party is the main challenger to the BJP in these polls, and its chief, Akhilesh Yadav, has hit out at Yogi Adityanath saying the CM is diverting from the real issues.
