One of the main promises with which the BJP came to power in Uttar Pradesh was to end what they called the Jungle Raj of Samajwadi Party. That promise seems to be undermined by the actions of the Yogi Adityanath government, which is steadily rolling back criminal cases against the Chief Minister himself and now against other party leaders. In May last year, the Yogi government refused let Yogi Adityanath be prosecuted. This comes on the back of two more occasions where Yogi pardoned himself. In a 2007 case where the Yogi, while an MP from Gorakhpur, was accused of making a hate speech, where he allegedly said "if one Hindu dies, 10 will get murdered" in response to the death of a Hindu man in a communal clash. Tonight, on Reality Check we discuss whether Yogi Adityanath is being the judge, jury, chief minister.
