Many young residents of Haryana's Charkhi Dadri town have appealed to the central government to scrap the Agnipath scheme, which was introduced as a short-term recruitment model in the armed forces. The scheme targets youngsters in the age group of 17 and a half to 21 years. They are recruited for 4 years, with the possibility of 25 per cent of them being retained in the armed forces for an additional period of 15 years.
