Internet often comes up with strange theories that create waves on social media and start trending on various platforms

One recent theory is about time travel, triggered by a photo clicked more than 100 years ago

The picture, titled 'Last Picnic', shows a group of adults and children sitting on a mound in Canada in 1917

The women can be seen wearing long skirts while the men are dressed in blazers and bowler hats

But what captured people's attention was a man with an uncanny resemblance to someone from the 20th century

He stands out from the crowd, dressed in a big t-shirt and shorts and sporting a scruffy haircut

The "surfer man", as some have dubbed him, appears to similarly confuse those surrounding him

The photo became famous on the internet after YouTuber Jamie D Grant posted a video featuring it

Mr Grant said he stumbled across the photo in Lester Ray Peterson's 1974 book, 'The Great Cape Scott Story'

But an expert was quoted as saying by express.co.uk that t-shirts were around then and that they made it into the common lexicon soon after

The commentator also said that the term appeared in the Merriam-Webster Dictionary in the 1920s

The expert pointed out that other guys in the picture are also dressed in shorts, which shows it has nothing to do with time travel
