Waiting too long Many pet owners delay training their dogs, arguing that they are young. However, the sooner they are drilled, the better for them as well as the owners.

Not being consistent To form any habit in a dog, the owner needs to be consistent with the training. If you're not consistent, the dog will quickly forget the teachings.

Not offering treats Good habits are only reinforced when the dogs are given treats. Ensure that for every command performed by the dog, you offer them their rightly deserved treat.

Time your sessions Especially in the initial phase of training, keep the sessions short and do not tire out your dog. Increase the intensity slowly as well.

Don't reward negative behaviour Dogs, will test you with their bad behaviour like barking and eating food from where it's not allowed. Stand your ground.

Repeating commands Sometimes, a dog may not respond to a command no matter what you try. The trick is to change the command. Instead of 'Come here', alter it to 'Here' or 'This way'.
