Kevlar
Stephanie Kwolek is credited for developing Kevlar, a fibre that is five times stronger than steel, while working at the DuPont Company in 1965.

Josephine Cochran invented the first successful hand-powered dishwasher. She later founded a company for her dishwashers that eventually became KitchenAid.

US citizen Mary Anderson came up with the idea of windshield wipers in 1902. A year later, she received the patent for the device.

Van Brittan Brown came up with the idea as crime increased in her New York neighbourhood. She alongside her husband, filed a patent for the security device in 1966.
