The North Sentinel Island is a remote island in the Andaman Sea known for being home to world's last uncontacted tribe, the Sentinelese.

The Sentinelese are thought to be the direct ancestors of the earliest humans who migrated out of Africa.

Indian law prohibits outsiders from visiting North Sentinel or making any contact with the Sentinelese.

The Sentinelese tribe is said to be highly protective of their island and have attacked multiple people who dared to set foot on the island.

John Allen Chau, an American missionary, was killed while trying to contact the tribe in 2018.

A Coast Guard helicopter flew over the island to check for survivors after a tsunami in 2004. The tribe struck the helicopter with a volley of arrows.

The latest attempt to encroach on the prohibited island was made by a US citizen. He was arrested by the authorities.
