The spider is one of the few tarantula species with a natural blue color with bright yellow and white markings

It is named after Gooty town in Andhra Pradesh, where the species was first discovered in 1899

Classified as critically endangered by the IUCN, the spider is a fast, defensive tarantula with a strong venom
