The goliath frog, also known as the giant slippery frog and goliath bullfrog, is the world's largest frog

Native to Equatorial Guinea and Cameroon, it can grow up to 32 cm in length and weigh up to 3.25 kg

Despite its remarkable size, it doesn't begin with a head start over other frog species

Instead, its tadpoles are the same size as an average frog tadpole

They sometimes move large stones and rocks weighing more than half their weight to create dammed ponds on sandy riverbanks

This high-effort nest-building behaviour could also be why the frogs grow so big, researchers say

They are omnivores, meaning they eat both plants and other animals

If the goliath frog feels threatened or scared, they try to escape by jumping into water
