The guidelines offer individuals a chance to extend their stay, beyond the 60-day grace period

To avail the option, one has to file for a change of nonimmigrant status within the grace period

The next step would be to file an adjustment of status application

Then apply for "compelling circumstances" to qualify for a one-year Employment Authorisation Document

At last, file an application to become beneficiary of a nonfrivolous petition to change employer

If above steps are followed, then non immigrant's authorised stay in the US can surpass 60 days
