Insectivorous plants, also known as carnivorous plants, eat insects to supplement their nutrient intake in environments that are low in nutrients

These plants were initially found in areas lacking a nutritious soil base, so they evolved over time and adapted to eating bugs to fill in for the lack of nourishment
