A team of scientists in the US teamed up with astronauts to study cancer cells in space and find a cure for the disease

Researchers wanted to conduct experiments on how cancer cells react to microgravity and develop drugs aimed at preventing it

In space, the weak pull of gravity places cells under incredible stress, causing them to age more rapidly

This phenomenon allows scientists to witness the progression of cancer growth much more rapidly than on Earth

Some miniature tumour organoids produced from the cells of cancer patients were sent to the ISS

And soon, researchers announed that they have found a "kill-switch" for cancer that works in space conditions

The announcement was made after observing promising results from an experimental drug called rebecsinib

The team will now start clinical trials on Earth by the end of the year to make the treatment available to people

On previous missions, anti-cancer medications tried to block cancer growth but the results were not promising
