Amid the new mission, here's a look at other significant space missions by ISRO

The Aryabhata spacecraft, named after the famous Indian astronomer, was India's first satellite. It was launched by a Soviet Kosmos-3M rocket in 1975

Rohini Satellite 1 was the first satellite successfully launched by India in 1980 using indigenously developed rockets

Mars Orbiter Mission or Mangalyaan was the country's first mission to the Red Planet in 2013. It studied the surface and atmosphere from orbit for 8 years

Chandrayaan-2 brought together an Orbiter, Lander and Rover to explore the south pole of the Moon in 2019. However, the lander crashed on the surface
