Planes are associated with loud noise, especially during take-off and landing that impacts the lives of those living near the airports

But nothing comes close to XF-84H Thunderscreech, a propeller-driven fighter aircraft manufactured by Republic Aviation Corporation

According to Simple Flying, it was manufactured in the 1950s when US Navy sought an aircraft that could take off without a catapult

Republic Aviation took its F-84F Thunderstreak turbojet fighter bomber and fitted it with a 5,850 hp turboprop engine

While testing the plane at Edwards Air Force Base in California, people as far as 25 miles (or 40 km) away started complaining about noise

The noise was so loud it worried the base commander that it could damage buildings like the control tower

The Thunderscreech was so powerful, its propellers permanently turned at greater than Mach 1, creating sonic booms

The shockwave created by the propellers was enough to knock people to the ground and give others seizures

The aircraft had an incredible takeoff speed (according to those times) but it vibrated a lot

Test pilots were afraid to fly the Thunderscreech and it ended up being cancelled by the US Navy, said Simple Flying
