The ocean is divided into five main zones based on depth and light penetration

These include the sunlight zone (epipelagic), the twilight zone (mesopelagic), the midnight zone (bathypelagic), the abyssal zone (abyssopelagic), and the hadal zone (trenches)

Sunlight Zone is the top layer, reaching down to about 200 meters, where sunlight can penetrate

It's rich in life, including plankton, fish, and marine mammals

Twilight Zone extends from 200 to 1,000 meters and received little sunlight, leading to a twilight environment

Midnight Zone extends from 1,000 to 4,000 meters, and is characterised by complete darkness

Abyssal Zone is located between 4,000 and 6,000 meters, and is extremely deep and dark with high pressure

Hadal Zone is the deepest zone, reaching down to the ocean floor in trenches like the Mariana Trench
