The town of chanderi in Madhya Pradesh is treasured for its rich heritage and also for being home to chanderi silk sarees.

Banarasi sarees originated in the ancient holy city of Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, which is situated on the banks of the Ganges.

Muga silk is geographically tagged to the beautiful state of Assam, which has a rich history of silk production, especially in the Brahmaputra Valley.

Kanchipuram, the temple city of Tamil Nadu, is famous for its Kanjeevaram sarees, woven from lustrous silk which is known globally.

Paithani silk saree, one of India's most expensive, comes from the town of Paithan in Aurangabad, Maharashtra, which sits on the river Godavari.
