Tehelka Managing Editor Shoma Chaudhury has resigned amid unabated criticism for the way she handled a young journalist's complaint that the magazine's founder Tarun Tejpal had molested her at an event in Goa earlier this month.
In a letter sent at 6 am today to colleagues, Ms Chaudhury said she did not want her integrity questioned.
- I was within my rights to protest - she has persistently taken the stand of supporting Tarun Tejpal.Vijay Jolly, BJP leader 28/11/2013
- I have a nephew called Tarun, that doesn't mean all Taruns are related to me. I have not got any shares (in Tehelka). You need to apply for share allotment. I have done nothing like that.Kapil Sibal, Union Minister 28/11/2013
- I do not know whether any thing was left there for her. She could have rescued Tehelka, but she has mishandled the issue.Kiran Bedi, former IPS officer and activist 28/11/2013
- The issue is not that Shoma Chaudhury has given resignation. The issue is that a 23-year-girl has been sexually harassed and exertion of her boss is being implemented.Shaina NC, Bharatiya Janata Party leader 28/11/2013
- She should have given this resignation long back.Abha Singh, social activist
