Islamabad: One person was killed and 19 others were injured today when a bus was targeted with a roadside bomb in the restive Kurram tribal region of northwest Pakistan, officials said.
The bomb was triggered by remote control in Khwar Killay area of Kurram Agency.
The bus with about two dozen passengers was going from Parachinar, the main town of the region, to Peshawar.
One person was killed instantly. Officials said many of the injured were in a critical condition.
The wounded were taken to a nearby hospital. Security forces cordoned off the area and conducted a search operation.
No group claimed responsibility for the attack.
The Kurram Agency has been rocked by frequent clashes between rival Shia and Sunni tribesmen over the past few years.
