Colombo:
Sri Lanka's government says flash floods and mudslides have killed 16 people, with 14 others reported missing, in two days of heavy rain in many parts of the country.
A Disaster Management Center report on Wednesday said that nearly 10,000 people have been displaced from their homes.
Many roads have been inundated. The report says troops have been deployed in rescue and relief operations.
