Mexico City : At least 24 people are dead following a fiery bus crash near Mexico's Gulf coast.
Civil defense authorities in Veracruz said a compact car crashed into the bus on a highway in the neighboring state of Puebla. Two people died in the car, and 22 aboard the bus.
The bus set out from the Veracruz city of Poza Rica, and apparently many of the passengers were students.
The state civil defense office said Monday that the accident happened Sunday night.
The car apparently struck the bus' doors, preventing the occupants from getting out.
About 10 passengers got out through the bus' windows. Ten people were also injured in the crash.
