At least 40 people have been killed in a massive car bomb blast in the Afghan city of Kandahar. More than 60 people were also hurt as buildings collapsed in the explosion in the city centre.
An afghan government official says five vehicles filled with explosives were detonated simultaneously, causing the massive blast.
The attack came shortly after the first results were announced in the presidential elections. No one has yet claimed responsibility for the attack in Kandahar, which is a Taliban stronghold.
