The earthquake was centered about 48 kilometers northwest of the town of Abra Pampa.
Washington: A 6.0 magnitude earthquake shook an area near Argentina's northern border with Boliviar today, the US Geological Survey reported.

The quake, which struck at 14:15 GMT, was centered about 48 kilometers northwest of the town of Abra Pampa, Argentina at a depth of 258.1 kilometers, the agency said.
