Golden:
The US Geological Survey says a 6.2-magnitude earthquake has struck near Japan's Bonin islands archipelago some 800 kilometres south of Tokyo.
The USGS said the earthquake struck yesterday at a depth of 512 kilometres.
There were no immediate reports of casualties. The US National Ocean and Atmospheric Administration has not issued a tsunami warning following the quake.
