Dubai:
Dubai Customs has seized seven million counterfeit sexual supplement medicines from the Dry Port in Dubai.
According to a senior customs official, the seizure is considered one of the largest in the region.
Ahmed Butti Ahmed, Executive Chairman of Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation and Dubai Customs Director General said the seized medicine is prohibited locally.
Tests conducted on the samples found them to be counterfeit drugs as well as other sexual supplements bearing trademarks of international companies, which are banned in the
UAE, he said.
"The case is considered an infringement of legal protection of the companies owning such trademarks and a clear violation of the UAE health legislations which prevents selling of this medicine unless a medical prescription is issued by a licensed doctor," he said.
