Berlin:
Police in Germany say the attempted abduction of a newborn child was foiled by the quick reaction of his 9-year-old brother.
Hamburg police say a 34-year-old German woman had taken the baby from a hospital room Friday afternoon, while the mother was sleeping.
The brother followed the unnamed woman and talked to her, whereupon she handed the day-old child back. She was arrested and taken to a psychiatric clinic.
Police spokesman Ulf Wundrack said Monday that the boy's actions contributed "significantly" to the baby's return.
