Kabul: A police officer in the Afghan capital says a suicide attacker has targeted a convoy of foreign vehicles on a main road in eastern Kabul.

Janagha, an officer in Kabul's Police District 9, says the suicide bomber was driving a car packed with explosives on Thursday morning. No further details were immediately available.

The huge explosion shook parts of Kabul, sending a plume of smoke and dust into the air.

Kabul has come under almost daily attack in recent weeks as insurgents intensify their war on local security forces and US and NATO troops.
