Seoul:
South Korea's president has stressed the need to bolster military readiness and sternly respond to North Korea over the deadly sinking of a warship, two days after Pyongyang threatened to turn Seoul into a "sea of flame."
North Korea flatly denies the allegation and has warned any retaliation would trigger war.
On June 14, South Korean President Lee Myung-bak said he would revamp and strengthen South Korea's military and hold some officers responsible for the sinking.
The U.N. Security Council is scheduled to consider South Korea's request to punish the North later Monday.
According to Seoul's Foreign Ministry, North Korea also planned to address the council about the sinking.
