New York:
The Federal Aviation Administration (F.A.A.) said Wednesday that it was trying to fire an air traffic controller in Knoxville, Tennesse, found sleeping during his midnight shift at McGhee Tyson Airport on February 19. The airport has a control tower and a radar room each staffed with one controller during the midnight shift. The agency said the tower controller landed seven planes and worked the radar position as well while the other slept.
